Year in pictures 2008

It's been a busy year with the 2 moves, Kayla starting daycare/preschool, and Kristin starting kindergarten. Now that we are finally settled in, and things are back to 'normal', I hope to have more time to spend capturing images of the kiddos.

I put together a little slideshow of some of my favorite images from 2008. Hope you enjoy the show : )

it's cold

it's cold, originally uploaded by jwlphotography.

It's been freezing here lately. Temps are supposed to be in the 30's tonight!!! I can't remember when the last time Kayla has complained about being cold, but this morning she started playing, only to realize she didn't have her pajamas on anymore, and started screaming, "Where my PANTS?! WHERE MY PANTS!"

I hate when things don't turn out as planned. I had visioned a completely different shot and midway, I saw this cool looking tractor.

Dance

Kristin has been taking ballet/tap for a while now, and I finally brought my camera to one of her classes. You can tell she really enjoys taking the class.

tree huggers

Getting ready for Christmas is such an exciting time of year for the kids. It's so precious to see them at this age, and how they still believe in Santa. I wonder how many more years of 'believing in Santa' before they realize the truth.

Kayla in print

I got a nice surprise in the mail the other day and thought it was pretty neat. Kaylas picture got published in a European magazine called 'TOMORROW'.

Santa Claus........

It's nice to see photos in print vs looking at them on your computer all the time.

We went to the annual lighting of the trees last night here in San Ramon. The kids were so excited as this was the first time they have been to one. Although I brought my camera with me, hoping to catch some of the festivities, I didn't even take one picture of the event : ( I did manage to snap a few pictures of them before we left though. You can see how excited and happy they were.

Dirty Laundry

Time to....., originally uploaded by jwlphotography.

Ever since Kayla started daycare/preschool, it seems that we are doing laundry at least 3-4 times a week. Selina calls herself the laundry maid, since that's pretty much all she does in her free time.

Funny conversations

Kristin is at the age now where she speaks her mind freely, and often times, what she says makes perfect sense to us, but to a random stranger, they might raise an eyebrow.

Here are 2 recent examples.

Babylish

Kayla: "Unngh, wong som raidensszzzz"

Us: "Huh, what did you say Kayla?"
Kayla: "Unngh, WONG. SOM. RAAAIIIDEnsszzzz"

Kristin: "Mom, Dad, she said she wants some raisins. Gee, you guys don't understand babylish?!"

Her favorite color is pink

Us: "Kristin, you gave Kayla your pink eye (conjucvitis), now her eyes are all pink and gooey."

Kristin: In her most sincere tone of voice, "I'm so nice to Kayla, and I'm such a good big sister."

Us: "Huh? How is giving pink eye to your sister being nice?"

Kristin: "Well, pink is Kayla's favorite color, and I gave her pink eye!"

It's been a while since we've done anything fun with the kids and I'm sure the move has been pretty tough on them. We decided to have a picnic at the park and got to spend some quality time with the kids. By quality time, I mean letting the kids run wild and letting the kids just be kids.

Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween, originally uploaded by jwlphotography.

It's been a crazy couple of weeks, and we are finally moved in to the new home. We still have a garage full of boxes that need unpacking and are in desperate need of some blinds for the windows. The kids are loving the new house, running around, climbing up and down the stairs. Kayla is sleeping in her own room, which is an amazing feat in itself, given she has been sleeping with us for the past 2 years. I'm so proud of her : )

Kayla had her picture taken by LIFETOUCH studios a few weeks back at her preschool. I love the expression on her face. I can only imagine what the photographer was trying to do to get her to smile. You'd figure she'd be used to a camera by now.

In other news, we are FINALLY moving! We signed our escrow papers yesterday afternoon and the keys should be in our hands by next Tuesday. I am so excited, and I'm sure the kids are gonna love running around the new house.

Chabot Space & Science Center

We took Kristin to the Chabot Space & Science Center for her birthday today. We wanted to bring her somewhere indoors since the weather forecast had predicted rain, but what do you know, it ended up being pretty dry all day. Either way, Kristin had a great day.

We then headed to Macaroni Grill for dinner and they were kind enough to bring out her desert with a candle. She had the biggest smile when she saw it....

and to end the night, we had a cake at home for her which she still had a small slice of.

Little Kristin, she's not so little anymore. Today she turns 5 years old. I can't believe how quickly time has gone by.

Happy birthday big K.

milk, it does a body good.......

milk, it does a body good, originally uploaded by jwlphotography.

It's too bad the kids don't like drinking it anymore. When Kayla was drinking from a bottle, she could literally consume a gallon a week. In the mornings, she would drink 12 ounces of milk easily. Now, she barely drinks 2-3 ounces. We have to pack a sippy cup for her to bring to school every day. Now, Kristin.....it takes her almost an hour to drink her cup of milk, and it's only 6-7 ounces. What is it with kids and drinking milk?

head under water

Kayla loves singing along to the radio, and one of her favorite songs is from Sara Bareilles, called "Love Song". She seems a lot more into music than Kristin was when she was 2. It's so cute to hear her singing. One of these days I'll figure out how to record a vid and upload her singing.
