Year in pictures 2008

It's been a busy year with the 2 moves, Kayla starting daycare/preschool, and Kristin starting kindergarten. Now that we are finally settled in, and things are back to 'normal', I hope to have more time to spend capturing images of the kiddos.

I put together a little slideshow of some of my favorite images from 2008. Hope you enjoy the show : )

I know, it's sad to see them growing so fast, yet I am happy that they are both becoming more independent.

it has to be that they are girls. I can NOT get my twin 2yr old boys to STAY STILL to even attempt to get any creative shots.
Have a Happy New Year. Thank you always for sharing your images. Very inspiring!

  14. Jason,

I've been following your posts for quite a while. It's my #1 subscription in my RSS reader.

The kids are so, so, so cute and I'm very impressed both with your creativity and their patience to participate, even with some bribery hehe. I guess they always enjoy the final result too. :-)

I have no kids yet, but I'm sure your "work" with your kids is a great inspiration for many amateur photographers as me.

I'm pretty sure they'll thank you very, very much when they grow up, 10-20 years from now. They'll have their lives told in pictures. That's just amazing.

Keep doing it and we keep the audience here always.

Congratulations and I wish you and all your family a great 2009 with much health, peace and great pics.

  24. Just discovered your blog today-your pics are amazing and how lucky are your girls to have pics like these when they grow up??!!

I saw you shoot with a 24-70mm-I've been pondering whether or not to get it for the last month or so.... I've been using a Tamron 28-75. Worth the investment??

    ReplyDelete
  25. Thanks Colby Kids. I have my kids to thank for the creativity.

Melissa, thanks for the kind words. The 24-70 is a fantastic lens, but I have read great things about the Tamron as well. The samples I've seen from the Tamron are often just as good as the Canon counterpart. Hope that helps.

    Cheers,

    Jason

Oh, how wonderful! Great idea to put together a slideshow. What song is it? It interacted with the pictures beautifully.

I've been looking at your pictures at Flickr for a long time, and now I found your blog. Amazing, warm, loving, inspiring! My kids are 6 and 3 ys, and we all enjoy your pictures. Do you publish them somewhere printed? Like in cards? I would buy them, they send messages of happiness (like the one with the sisters helping themselves to cookies on the fridge.

I just found this link on a photography forum. Please know that you have just brought tears to my eyes at how beautiful your daughters are. These are some amazingly creative photos I have ever seen. I was so moved by them. My 4 yr old daughter gasped and giggled at each photo believing these little girls were so mischievous and silly. Thank you for really brightening my day.

  30. Thanks Linda. No cards are in the works yet. : )

    Jason -

I've seen your images around on Strobist and Flickr and the creativity and execution are both fantastic. Having two daughters the same age as yours, I've looked to your ideas for inspiration, but have neither the creativity in capture or post to pull them off!

You've made my job more difficult given the glares I get from my wife every time she sees your work! At least it gives me something to shoot for!

Great job, look forward to more fun shots,

    Dave

  35. Thanks Dave :) It just takes a lot of patience and bribery. Luckily my wife keeps our cupboards full of snacks.

    Cheers
